Mommy, where did STOF come from? Well, Johnny, when two crazy fangirls love a group of talented musicians very much, the fangirls come together in a very "special" way to create something entirely unique, called a fansite. It's grown-up stuff, but we'll try to explain it in the simplest of terms, and the most convenient of definitions. A long, long time ago (2000), in a land far, far away (insert non-descript college town of your choice here), there were two girls who liked the rock music very much. They were called Marie Siu and Jilly. One day, their very cool college radio station played a most excellent tune called "(You All) Everybody". Jilly and Marie enjoyed the song so much that they called the hipper-than-thou DJ to get the 411. He told them "if the devil is six then god is seven". So they waited until a less-baked DJ went on the air. She told them that their new favorite song was by a band called DriveSHAFT from a record amazingly called DriveSHAFT. How convenient! Also convenient? The fact that the band would be playing Jilly and Marie's very own non-descript college town in the very near future. So they bought the album and picked their favorite songs and their favorite band members. Checked out the DS gig at their local bar, and got to chatting with the fellas after the gig (as you do). Turns out the next few gigs were all within driving distance and a three-day weekend was on the horizon. And before you could say "Deus Ex Machina" Jilly and Marie became the unofficial merch girls for the West Coast dates of DriveSHAFT's first US tour. Yes, Mommy. But that doesn't explain where this website came from! Oh, right you are, Johnny. Got a bit sidetracked there. Well, once the band had gone back to the land of chips and footie, Jilly and Marie decided that they wanted to share their love of all things DriveSHAFT with the rest of the world, via the magic of the information superhighway. So, after Jilly's mad HTML skillz were brought together in that "special" way with Marie's obsessive setlist and ticket stub collecting, STOF was born. Mommy, is it me, or is this whole "birds and bees" device getting kinda creepy? No, Johnny, it's not just you. In fact, I'm pretty certain that this Mommy/Johnny business has made more than one visitor to this website feel at least slightly uncomfortable. Which is why we're gonna put an end to it right now and try to move forward so we can let the healing begin. Have you got any more burning questions that weren't answered here?
