Concert Report British band DriveSHAFT played at the Prince of Wales Hotel, St. Kilda, Melbourne, Australia. Supported by local lads, The Fauves, they played to a crowd of devoted Melbournians who came in their hundreds to witness this premier act, much to the pleasant surprise of the band themselves. DriveSHAFT kicked the show off with the double-whammy of "Let Me Ride" and "Burn". Testament to the band's popularity was the word-for-word singing from the audience during nearly every song, and the vibe in the mosh pit down the front. A couple of as-yet-unrecorded songs were also included in the set. The sound was tremendous. DriveSHAFT lulled us, rocked us, and rocked us yet again as they powered their way through an awesome set, finishing with two encores. I heard the band promoter from the Prince of Wales on the radio two days later and he said he thought DriveSHAFT was one of the top ten bands to ever play at the POW. This is no mean feat considering that the POW is a stop for many international bands tour here. I can't wait to see them again. I've got a feeling after this gig that they may return soon. I CAN ONLY HOPE!!! |
